Kudos to Easton’s National Canal Museum on receiving the 2008 Roy L. Shafer Leading Edge Award for Visitor Experience at a Small Institution given by the Association of Science-Technology Centers.

The National Canal Museum was recognized for its innovative canal exhibit, which offers visitors a hands-on water-based lesson on how canals work. Easton Mayor Sal Panto described the award as the “Oscar or the Emmy of Tourism.”

Whatever the award, the exhibit is way cool. I’m not a kid (by a long haul), but I loved taking my boat by canal from one end of the water table to the other using locks to raise and lower my boat along the way. I didn’t even need to compete with the kids to move my boat along the way. All the adults in my group were having a blast, and I know your kids will too. It’s a “must play” in Easton, located one floor up from The Crayola FACTORY® in Two Rivers Landing on Centre Square.

Have you tried the canal exhibit yet?
