Celebrating 28 years in Bethlehem
January 26th, 2010 posted by Justin Brosious
Friday night Casey and I went out in Bethlehem for her friend’s 28th birthday. I understand when a group of people get together for the big 21 or the milestone birthdays: 30, 40, 50 and so on. I don’t quite understand 20 people for a 28th. But there are a lot of things I don’t understand, so I just kept my mouth shut and went with the flow.
We started out at Looper’s Grille and Bar on the south side of Bethlehem. They have good beer there, so that made me happy. Yup, we had a good time.
The next stop was The Firehouse, also in Southside Bethlehem. I was not looking forward to this. My brother had been there and was not too impressed. He warned me that there would be a DJ on both floors. That is a red flag for me to stay away (if you’ll remember, I’m much more of a live band guy). But I didn’t really have a choice in the matter.
We walked in the door and to my surprise I heard live music! The band playing was called The Drama Club. They mostly do original music, but on off nights they do covers for some extra scratch.
I enjoyed them, so I stayed downstairs the entire night. Meanwhile, Casey and her friends went upstairs for the dance party. But she came back down 15 minutes later and did not return.
Overall The Firehouse surpassed my low expectations. Have you been there yet?
