Supporting Good Shepherd Rehab in Lehigh Valley

Sometimes it just feels good when I can give a little of my time for the betterment of Lehigh Valley as a whole. I’m the chair for Da Vinci Science Center’s marketing committee and secretary for a travel & tourism organization called SKAL of Northeastern Pennsylvania. You would think that would be plenty, but when I was asked more than a year ago to sit on a committee to help with the marketing, public relations and fundraising efforts for Good Shepherd Rehabilitation, I just couldn’t say no.
Before I had joined the Good Shepherd committee, I had never stepped foot onto their main campus off S. Fifth Street in Allentown (although I had driven by it many times). To say that I was overwhelmed the first time I was there is an understatement! I quickly learned about the many wonderful things that happen there that you’d never know about by just seeing it from the outside. The specialized attention for cases including severe injuries to developmental issues seemed to be a true passion for their staff, particularly in their impressive pediatric unit. This is really a state-of-the-art facility.
Prior to joining the Good Shepherd group I had just completed some physical therapy at one of the 30 rehab locations they have in eastern PA. It was a wonderful experience, with aquatherapy and fitness classes! I even became a member of that facility and utilized it as a gym after my PT was over!
I just heard the great news that 100% of the proceeds from the Greater Lehigh Valley Auto Show’s sneak preview on March 24 will be going to Good Shepherd’s pediatric unit!
So have you ever been treated at or used any of the facilities at Good Shepherd? I would love to hear your stories of why you think this is such a great place.
