Valentine’s Day at Nawab Indian Restaurant

My son and daughter-in-law treat us to fine dining whenever we visit them in Hoboken, NJ. We’re not fussy about what we eat, so they always pick a different cuisine to try which is how I ended up with my first takes of Indian cuisine. We loved the flavors and spices used in Indian food, so to celebrate Valentine’s Day we decided to try Nawab Indian restaurant on the Southside of Bethlehem.
Nawab came highly recommended by Nancy, our director of member relations here at the bureau. And since Nawab is a BYOB, we remembered to bring our favorite bottle of wine from home.
We started with appetizers: bhojia, garden fresh cut vegetables deep fried in chick pea batter, and the chef’s special assorted platter, cubes of chicken, tikka, tandoori shrimp and sheekh kabab. For our entrees, my husband chose the lamb vindaloo, cubes of lamb marinated in vinegar and Indian spices. I had the murgh malai kabab, creamy chicken supreme with ginger, garlic and spices roasted in the clay oven. I was very pleased with our choices – they were both delicious and flavorful.
Our waitress was very helpful suggesting accompaniments of garlic naan, soft bread, and raita, a yogurt flavored with cucumber and carrot which complimented and enhanced our appetizers and entrees. The service was exceptional!
So we’ve decided that next time our son and daughter-in-law come to visit us, we will treat them to Lehigh Valley’s fine dining and take them to Nawab’s. What’s your favorite fine-dining restaurant in the area?
Debbie Snyder, LVCVB’s “director of first impressions.”
