Lehigh Valley’s Glasbern is the perfect date

As I was thinking about what to make for dinner last night, I immediately realized I was not in the mood to cook. So, I sent Michael a text asking if we could have a “date night” since we will probably be trapped in the house for the next couple of days with the snow storm that is now hitting Lehigh Valley. His response was, “Where?” At first, I had no idea, but then it hit me: I had a gift certificate for Glasbern and what a better time to use it.

The dining room is charming; it is set in an old, exposed original post-and-beam barn structure with stone walls. Our table was set right next to the gas fireplace which made it romantic along with the candles on the table and the ones that were strategically placed around the room. And, I absolutely loved the different sized, dried grapevine spheres that were lit with white lights and were dangling from the ceiling.

Dinner was magnificent, as was the service. Glasbern offers price-fixed dining options where you can pick any combination of three courses for $48, or in my case four courses for $55 since I got dessert also. I had a winter salad (excellent), a chicken pot pie soup with crust on top (very good), lamb chops and apple cobbler with cinnamon ice cream (awesome) for dessert. With tax, tip and two cocktails the bill was $144 – considering the majority of the food served was grown/raised on the premises and how tasty it all was, I’d say it was worth it.

I’m thinking my next time there will include an overnight stay in one of their cottages. And, I couldn’t help noticing how the pub area would make for a splendid and relaxing cocktail hour. Sigh. I love everything about this place. If I hit the lottery, and if it were for sale, it would be my next career adventure.
