The inside scoop on Lehigh Valley’s Inside Scoop

Summer is my favorite season and a major reason for this is my love of ice cream. Lehigh Valley has some great local shops including The Bethlehem Dairy Story and the Ice Creamery at the Shoppes of Premise Maid.
Last Friday night I was introduced to a new shop by some friends. They had been talking about The Inside Scoop in Coopersburg for some time and my wife and I finally decided to give it a try.
I was really impressed by the atmosphere when we walked into the shop. The black and white tiled floor, red booths and jukebox gave off the feeling of a 1950’s style diner. Then came the really impressive part, the menu. There must have been at least 25 different types of homemade hard ice cream including Key Lime Pie, Strawberry Lemonade and Purple Cow (Black Raspberry ice cream with dark & white chocolate chips).
It was a tough choice, but I decided to try a cup of the Oatmeal & Brown Sugar. The ice cream was very smooth and full of oatmeal pieces. It was hard to believe that the small single scoop was only $2.75.
All and all I was very impressed with The Inside Scoop and definitely plan on going back. Next time I am either going to try the Birthday Cake ice cream or Peanut Butter Blitz (vanilla ice cream with peanut butter, chocolate sauce and topped with a Reese’s peanut butter cup).
What is your favorite local ice cream shop?
