Pizza-tini

Over the past couple of weeks, I have watched several episodes of Man V. Food on the Travel Channel. That got me thinking about what kind of challenge I could attempt in Lehigh Valley.

Erin and I decided to meet some friends at Looper’s Grille and Bar in Bethlehem for dinner and some drinks on Friday night. Once we started looking at the martini menu, something caught Katie's eye. She saw the Pizza-tini and really wanted to give it a try, but didn't want to drink the whole thing. Since I am up for just about any challenge, I told Katie that I would happily order the drink and she could try some.

After ordering the drink, our waiter decided that he would prepare me for the Pizza-tini. He didn't tell me about the ingredients, but he did say that it would taste a lot like cold pizza and that I would need a spoon.

The mar-tee-ni finally arrived. It was the color of pizza sauce. Floating in it was oregano and shredded cheese. The drink was also garnished with a piece of pizza.

I decided that I would take a small sip to begin. To my surprise it tasted just like a piece of cold pizza. The only difference was that I could actually taste the oregano with each sip. When I finally finished the drink, I realized what the spoon was for. There were chunks of mozzarella cheese in the bottom of the glass.

Katie and I agreed that the Pizza-tini was pretty good, but with over 500 mar-tee-nis at Looper's I probably won't be ordering it again. Next time I am going to try the Blast Furnace (spicy tomato) or Finding Nemo (Swedish Fish).

Are you up for the Pizza-tini?
