Last week a coworker and I decided that we would check out a matinee performance at The Pines Dinner Theatre in Allentown. For those of you who are not familiar with the Pines, it was formerly Blatt’s Dinner Theatre and is currently the only dinner theatre located in Lehigh Valley.

The doors opened at noon and the meal service started a half hour later. The lunch began with a garden salad and rolls, followed by our choice of three delicious-sounding entrees. I chose the turkey breast while Kate selected the sliced ham with an orange Dijon glaze. Both of our meals were served with sweet corn and potato filling. I can honestly say that the turkey was delicious and I didn’t leave anything on my plate. However the best part of the meal was still to come.

The desert was served family-style and was warm apple crisp with vanilla ice cream. The ice cream melted perfectly as it was placed on top of the apple crisp. It was a fantastic end to a great meal.

The afternoon’s performance was “A Pines Country Christmas.” The show was written by Oliver Blatt and featured two acts full of holiday music. My favorite scene was titled “Trees ‘r’ Us” and was packed with laughter. The cast did a great job of putting the entire audience, myself included, in the holiday spirit.

If you are looking for a great holiday performance, “A Pines Country Christmas” will be playing at The Pines Dinner Theatre until December 26. Have you ever been to a dinner theater before? What do you think of the experience?
