Did you ever walk into a restaurant or pub and think “I wish this was near my house”? That’s what I think whenever I stop in Braveheart Highland Pub in Hellertown, Lehigh Valley’s only authentic Scottish Pub.

Last Monday, Don and I decided to stop for a bite to eat on the way to visit my parents. When he suggested Braveheart I thought he was reading my mind. The atmosphere is so warm and inviting and I’ve never had a bad meal there. The service has always been great, too. The servers are genuinely pleasant, not that fake “I’ll be nice so you leave a good tip” attitude you can spot a mile away.

On this visit I decided to stick with a traditional dish, the Scottish Fish & Chips. In a word…YUM! The beer batter coating was extremely light and fluffy and the fish itself was tender, moist and flaky, just as it should be. Don’s Crispy Buffalo Chicken Salad looked really good too.

If you’re a Scotch drinker, you need to check out their private Scotch Lounge upstairs. You can join their Scotch Club, which sounds really cool with six tastings a year and your very own engraved whiskey glass. You even get a substantial discount to the Scotch Club if you’re a member of the Celtic Cultural Alliance!

Another thing I love about this place is something you might overlook on their website. They offer shuttle service! While I’m sure they wouldn’t schlep me home to Moore Township, I think that is a great service to their local clientele. Like I said, I wish this was near my house.

Have you been to Braveheart Highland Pub?
