The Melting Pot in Bethlehem … Fondue with Friends

Lehigh Valley’s recent string of winter weather has given me a case of cabin fever. It is a good thing that this past week was Restaurant Week in Bethlehem. My wife and I were invited to join some friends on Saturday night at The Melting Pot.
This was my first fondue experience and I was excited to give it a try. The Restaurant Week menu included 4 courses for only $30 a person.
The four of us were seated at a booth with two burners, which meant that we would be able to experience two types of cheese for the first course. We tried the Fiesta Cheese Fondue and the Wisconsin Trio Cheese Fondue. We dipped a variety of food in the cheeses including carrots, tortilla chips and several types of cheese. The highlight of the first course was tortilla chips in the Fiesta Cheese Fondue.
Our second course was a California Salad, but I will skip over that since there was no dipping involved. The third course was called The Main Street, which featured Garlic Chili Chicken, Roasted Garlic Shrimp, Teriyaki-marinated Sirloin and Spinach & Artichoke Ravioli. We used the Court Bullion to cook all of the meat and vegetables. After the first couple pieces of chicken we were able to get the hang of it and soon became fondue professionals.
The fourth and most delicious course of the night was desert. We decided on The Original which featured milk chocolate with a swirl of crunchy peanut butter. This was served with brownies, pound cake, marshmallows, bananas, strawberries and Rice Krispies treats®. We enjoyed the Rice Krispies treats® so much that we asked the waiter for seconds so we didn’t waste any chocolate fondue.
All four of has had a great experience at the Melting Pot and we are looking forward to our next visit when we can try some of the other cheeses.
