The Lafayette Inn in Easton … perfect for Valentine’s Day!

Don and I celebrated Valentine’s Day a little early this year with an overnight stay at The Lafayette Inn on College Hill in Easton.
For years I’ve been promoting Lehigh Valley Inns and Bed & Breakfasts at trade shows, pointing out how you can enjoy a getaway without having to travel far. Seeing how relaxed Debbie was after her recent “stay-cation” I decided it was our turn.
I knew the Inn was beautiful; having toured it in the past, but there is nothing like walking through their door with an overnight bag. To make that first impression even more special, Natalie, who greeted us, was baking chocolate heart shaped cakes. The aroma was intoxicating!
We were informed of the various complimentary refreshments available in the parlor, shown the sun porch where breakfast would be served and given the daily combination to the front door lock in case we returned from dinner after 10pm.
Our room (10) was gorgeous and featured a comfortable four poster bed, gas-fired stove, along with other antique furnishings. The attached bathroom was huge and combined old world style with modern amenities like an oversized corner soaking tub and separate glass enclosed shower.
Returning from dinner we relaxed in the elegant parlor before retiring to our room. I especially enjoyed viewing pictures of the 1895 Georgian style mansion through the years, prior to restoration in 1986. It’s hard to imagine that it was once a dilapidated fraternity house.
In the morning we met up with our hosts, Innkeepers Laura and Paul Di Liello and enjoyed a delicious made to order breakfast. I had to compliment them both on their attention to detail. They run this 18 room Inn with such warmth and hospitality and make it seem effortless.
I know Valentine’s Day is traditionally celebrated with flowers or candy, but if you really want to impress your sweetheart, give a gift certificate for a stay at The Lafayette Inn. You’ll both be glad you did!
