Sunday at Shula’s

Back in January my wife and I purchased the Dream Come True Restaurant of the Month Calendar. Each month the calendar features a Buy One Entrée, Get One Free Offer at one of Lehigh Valley’s fine restaurants. March’s featured restaurant was Shula’s Steak House at The Promenade Shops at Saucon Valley.
Since Erin and I wanted to savor this meal, we decided to visit Shula’s on a Sunday evening. It turns out that Shula’s also offers a fantastic Prime Rib Special on Sunday. After reading through the delicious menu our decision was easy, we would both have the prime rib. Sunday’s special included your choice of salad, 16 oz. prime rib au jus, 2 sides and dessert. This is a lot more food than I would typically eat at dinner, but for $39 I couldn’t say no.
We began with the wedge salad which featured fresh vegetables and a delicious blue cheese dressing. Our main course was up next; it included the 16 oz. prime rib au jus, sautéed mushrooms and a jumbo baked potato. My eyes lit up when the prime rib arrived. It was nearly as large as the dinner plate and cooked to perfection. Within seconds I had taken my first bite, it was awesome.
The jumbo baked potato and sautéed mushrooms were perfect sides for this meal. The fresh mushrooms had great flavor that were a nice compliment to the meat. After eating half of my meal, I decided it was time to throw in the towel. I chose to take my leftovers and piece of cheesecake home with me. The Shula’s experience was a winner and I plan to make a return trip.
