Top 5 Beer Spots in Lehigh Valley
May 11th, 2011 posted by Mike Keller
Here’s a list of my 5 favorite beer destinations in Lehigh Valley. Of course, your tastebuds and mine will undoubtedly differ, but maybe this list will help point your thirst in the right direction one evening.
Fegley’s Brew Works (Allentown & Bethlehem) – Two of my favorite places to be in Lehigh Valley, period. I love the atmosphere and ambiance that both Brew Works buildings have (I haven’t been to Brew Works on the Green yet). There’s an appreciation for the architecture here, but most importantly the beer. The bartenders are enthusiastic and willing to offer advice and tastes to make sure you’re satisfied.
Weyerbacher – Yum! My second post as a blogger for Lehigh Valley Insite focused on Weyerbacher Brewery in Easton. They’re down-to-earth, extremely inventive and have a true passion for making beer. Tours (and tastes) are offered every Saturday and you can mix and match a case of 24. You’ll get much better deals here than in your local beer distributor.
Liberty Street Tavern – Before working in Allentown, Liberty Tavern was pretty much all I knew of the beer scene in Lehigh Valley. My brother lived two houses down from the Tavern and I was still living with my parents, so needless to say I visited…a lot. There is a great assortment of beer available from all over the world. Stop by, have a pint and mix up a 6 pack to take home.
Porter’s Pub – After touring Weyerbacher one day, my brother, dad and I discovered Porter’s Pub. It’s a nice, dimly lit atmosphere with knowledgeable bartenders to guide your palate in the right direction. I remember having a Dark I.P.A. at Porter’s, the first Dark I.P.A. I’d ever come in contact with. Porter’s is definitely worth checking out if you find yourself in the Easton area.
Coca-Cola Park – What goes better with beer than baseball? Or is it the other way around? Anyway, you can get your locally brewed Fegley’s beer here as well as other Pennsylvania brews, including Victory and Yeungling. I guess I should also mention that those light “beers” are available here too, if you’re into that kind of thing.
What’s your favorite spot to grab a brew?
Tell me the beer destinations that I missed in my list so I can check them out too!
