Just Do It (Sorry Nike)

Recently I had the opportunity (or daunting task) of trying to coordinate water deliveries for about six sporting events here in Lehigh Valley. Lehigh Valley Rugby Football Club will be holding a rugby tournament this weekend at Monocacy Park in Bethlehem. If you haven’t had the opportunity to see rugby live, give it a shot … it’s quite entertaining and very physical.
With the explosion of lacrosse across Lehigh Valley as well as the surrounding areas, don’t miss two great events featuring some pretty talented kids. Lehigh Laxfest will be held June 18-19 at the Goodman Campus on Lehigh University and Laxpalooza will be held June 25-26 at Bicentennial Park in Northampton.
I never had the opportunity to play lacrosse, but I have had the opportunity to attend Laxpalooza in the past and it is quite a spectacle. I for one am looking forward to taking my son to this year’s event.
Having played a bit of tennis in high school and college, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention a USTA event coming to Saucon Valley High School June 18-22. This event, featuring boys 12 years of age, will be something to see for tennis aficionados. Who knows, maybe the next Nadel might show up?
Regardless of your athletic ability or knowledge of these sports, they make for a great time out with the kids, so get out there and support these events. They are vital to the community and encourage us all (especially our children) to stay active. Here’s to great weather and even better competition.
