Lehigh Valley, Pa = The Place to Be

Queue the music: “It’s the most wonderful time…of the year”. That catchy Christmas tune made famous by Andy Williams then cleverly adapted for a Staples commercial during their back to school season is on the minds of every hotelier in Lehigh Valley this weekend. Why? This is the most popular weekend to stay in the valley!

We are proud hosts to several major events and a slew of ongoing ones. Forget cleaning or laundry this weekend, gather up the friends and family and plan your Lehigh Valley itinerary. There literally is “something for everyone” going on.

In no particular order:
Musikfest – 10 days packed full of over 500 live performances, with the majority of them free. I plan on catching “The Slicked Up 9’s” tonight at Musikfest Café. Our own Debbie Snyder’s son is the guitarist in this big band/swing group and they are fabulous. I also plan to see “March Fourth Marching Band“, the punk rock version of a band complete with stilts and crazy antics. My main stage show this year will be Joe Cocker and Huey Lewis & The News on Monday night. It’s going to be a busy week.

DCI – Drum Corps International Eastern Classic is always an incredible show at J. Birney Crum Stadium in Allentown which is actually home to one of the best corps in the bunch, The Cadets. Hopefully “home field advantage” will have them finishing first. Go Cadets!!!

Das Awkscht Fescht Antique & Classic Car Show – This is one of the best car shows I’ve ever seen. You can view over 1,200 examples of lovingly restored treasures. They aren’t just pretty faces either. Even if they were trailered in from out of state, they have to drive onto the festival grounds to participate.

Martin on Main – Let’s face it, Nazareth PA is Mecca to owners of C.F. Martin guitars so once a year a large group of them from all over the world get together to celebrate. You don’t need to be an owner to cash in on the fun. Just hang out and enjoy the music.

I’m not finished…the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival is still going strong, there’s a bluegrass festival in Wind Gap and the Philadelphia Eagles are training at Lehigh University. I could go on, but I’d rather you click through to our calendar so you can plan your weekend.

What’s on your “can’t miss” list for this weekend?
