And the show must go on…
Just as the saying goes… and that’s exactly what happened at two Lehigh Valley college campuses this past weekend. After what was a powerless week for many people, theatre and dance goers were able to get out of the house to catch one of the stunning performances.
Muhlenberg College presented “On the Town,” a musical showcasing three sailors’ experiences while on a 24-break in New York City. Under the direction of Charles Richter, the show featured a wonderful cast of students. The show, with beautiful costume, lighting and scene design, was really brought to life by Karen Dearborn’s choreography. From beautiful duets to exciting and upbeat numbers with the whole cast, Muhlenberg really put on a production to be proud of.
On a slightly different level, Lehigh University featured internationally-renowned dance company Momix on Sunday evening. Known for their unique imagery (you might even recognize them from the commercial below), Momix takes the imagination to the stage. This specific piece, Botanica, turns the focus to nature as the dancers create imagery of the seasons and the beauty of Mother Nature.
But this weekend was not a rarity- we’re lucky to have a thriving arts presence here in Lehigh Valley. Whether it is a local production featuring community members and students or a professional company stopping in for a visit, there’s always beautiful work that the whole family can enjoy being created and performed right here at home.
