Full Plate + Emtpy Stomach = Satisfaction

With Thanksgiving just around the corner chances are you’ll be having your fill of turkey.  So when you’re ready for a different type of meal, why not enjoy some finer dining?

Last week a friend of mine was in town for the day and we decided to meet for dinner.  After establishing that I was too indecisive to make a restaurant choice, we ended up somewhere we frequent pretty often, the Sands Casino® Bethlehem.  But before we were ready to test our luck on the tables, we decided to stop by one of my favorite restaurants for a delicious meal.

While the price tag might be a little daunting at first, Emeril’s Chop House makes for a great special night out with amazing food and spectacular service.  We had dined there previously, but were excited to be among some of the first guests to try out the new menu items that had been rolled out the day before.

We were seated alongside a wall of wine bottles and greeted immediately by the team of servers that would be helping us throughout the evening.  Now I love a good glass of wine, but I am the last person to consult when trying to make a decision on a bottle.  After flipping through the wine list a solid four or five times, we turned to our server for help.  I explained that we wanted a red, but I don’t like dry wines.  He suggested the Heron Pinot Noir. It was the perfect choice and paired wonderfully with our meal. After finally deciding on a wine, we started out with the Crispy Point Judith Calamari, a personal favorite of mine.  It’s always perfectly prepared and sits atop a fantastic tomato basil sauce.

Our servers mentioned some of the new dishes that were available and highly recommended both the Orange Miso Yellowfin Tuna and the Loch Duart Salmon, but I decided to keep it classic with Filet Mignon dressed up ‘Oscar style’- with jumbo lump crab meat and asparagus.  It was prepared so perfectly that I literally ate every bit off my plate which is a pretty big deal for me!  My friend opted for the Bone-In Ribeye and also ‘raised the steak’ Oscar style.

With so many great new choice on the menu, we couldn’t turn down dessert!  But since both of us were pretty filled after the first two courses, we decided to split a lighter choice.  Continuing on with the new menu we tried the warm Blueberry Financier at the suggestion of our server.  The coconut ice cream really made the dish a huge hit, offering just the right amount of sweetness to end a wonderful dinner.

With the expansion of table games just announced yesterday (including two new Let-It-Ride tables, I’m in!), it’ll give even more of an incentive to head out to the Sands®, test your luck and grab a bite to eat!  I always recommend Emeril’s Chop House to anyone looking for a nice night out, and the new menu options surely will not disappoint!

What’s your favorite Lehigh Valley spot for a special night out?
