Top 5 Cupcake Bakeries in Lehigh Valley
July 18th, 2014 posted by Kaitie Burger
Some say that the cupcake trend is on it’s way out, but I fully disagree. There’s nothing better than having your own little dessert at the end of the day (or in the middle).
In the last few years, specialty cupcakes have definitely become trendy, and we’re lucky to have a good set of options for when you’re craving something sweet. I’ve pulled together a list of my favorite local bakeries.
5. Sweet Girlz in Easton. This bakery features some classic choices, as well as some special flavors. In addition to their regular menu of cupcakes, cookies, and other goodies, you’ll also find gluten free options here. Sweet Girlz also specializes in custom orders- no matter what the occasion. Catch them on the right day and you might even find some cakes made with Weyerbacher brews!
4.Sugar Babe in Bethlehem. Located right on Broad Street, Sugar Babe features cupcakes for any appetite. The mini size makes the perfect snack! Their delicious menu of cupcakes varies from Plain Jane (chocolate cupcake w/ vanilla frosting & sprinkles) to the Salty Dog (caramel cupcake w/ dark chocolate frosting topped w/ fleur de sel (sea salt). Custom orders are also available.
3. Vegan Treats in Bethlehem. For those of you who opt for a vegan lifestyle, this is the place for you. From cupcakes, to donuts, to homemade soft serve ice cream, Vegan Treats has amazing options for vegans and non-vegans alike. With deliveries spanning across the East Coast, Vegan Treats is sure to satisfy any sweet tooth. (be sure to check out the peanut butter mousse cupake!)
2. Trixie’s Treats. This one doesn’t get a location listed with it because it bops all over the place. Trixie’s Treats is a local food truck that offers an array of specialty cupcakes. Known for their banana fluffernutter, the truck can often be found at community events and fundraisers, as well as at local dining establishments. Trixie’s Treats offers great seasonal and event-themed flavors, such as Irish Carbomb for St. Patricks Day. Be sure to check their Facebook page to see where the truck will be next!
1. Blondies in Catasaqua and the Allentown Farmers Market. Named 2014 Best Cupcake You’ve Ever Tasted by Lehigh Valley Style, Blondie’s definitely takes the cake (no pun intended). Each day, there are new flavors (regular and gluten free) offered at each location. The menu will often be posted on their Facebook page the night before. Be sure to save room for these cupcakes- they’re baked in muffin tins so they are much larger than your average treat (but well-worth the extra calories)!
