Year Round Fun At Merchants Square Mall
March 5th, 2015 posted by Nancy Signorovitch
Winter has been especially harsh this year in Lehigh Valley. I, like many others, long for warmer days when you can stroll through our quaint downtowns, popping in and out of their unique shops and boutiques.
Luckily we have Merchants Square Mall in Allentown to go to for that one of a kind shopping experience all year long. They have over 100,000 square feet of antique and collectibles shops and some pretty cool specialty and consignment stores too. I love seeing items I remember from my parents and grandparents homes as much as seeing the value of my collected treasures.
The mall’s 10,000 square foot exhibit space is home to many shows and events like The Great Lehigh Valley Antique Toy Show this Saturday, March 7th, from 10am to 3pm. You’ll see many fine examples of toys you forgot you had and wish you had kept. It is a must attend event for toy enthusiasts of all ages.
Switching it up, the next day the space will host a Meet & Greet with Pro Wrestlers. Not my cup of tea but if you’re a fan of Stacy Carter, Lanny Poffo, or Mike Rotundo you should probably be there.
The weekend of March 14th & 15th will have the space filled with an indoor flea market. This event is free to attend so it’s a good thing Merchants Square Mall has a huge parking lot!
Next up is The World Famous Record Convention on March 21st which boasts “1,000 of the rarest records in the world”. At just $3.00 admission for adults (kids free) it’s worth checking out. The next day they add DVDs & CDs to the show along with additional LPs & 45s. It would be fun to pick up some old favorites I once owned but let slip away.
Rounding out the month, K.D. Smith Auctions Bid Board Closes on March 28th. Jason told you all about this in his post here. Check out the mall’s calendar for other events throughout the year such as The Great Allentown Comic Com weekend.
When shopping at Merchants Square Mall or attending an event there allow extra time to visit their Model Train Exhibit. It has been dubbed “the world’s most amazing model train extravaganza” and for good reason. The mall is open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Don’t worry what the weather has in store…Merchants Square Mall is climate controlled.
