Treat yourself to a relaxing getaway at the Inn at Birch Wilds.

Nestled in the scenic Blue Mountains is the town of Lehighton where the Inn at Birch Wilds welcomes you. After four years of planning and perfecting their cozy getaway destination, innkeepers Cheryl and Rhonda (sisters and Bethlehem natives) opened their doors in early October 2016.

The Inn at Birch Wilds is housed in a log and stone home dating back to 1750 complete with beautiful mountain views. The mission of the property is to help guests forget about their worries and be able to unwind, relax and be close to nature. To help allow for this sense of seclusion, the inn is strictly for adults only. A stay here will provide you with a romantic combination of peace and quiet.

Nachos piled high at Torre.

Everyone has their guilty pleasure when it comes to eating badly. When the time comes to treat myself, I choose nachos, lots of nachos. There are plenty of them on local menus, but below are the top five that I crave on the daily.

Torre For a classic plate of nachos, my choice goes to Torre. Piled high in a beautiful arrangement with crispy tortilla chips, Chihuahua and cheddar cheese, chili, black beans, your choice of pulled pork or shredded beef brisket and topped with crema and guacamole. It is a feast for my eyes and stomach. Go during happy hour for half-price!

Experience two unique escape rooms at Captured LV.

Escape rooms, the newest trend sweeping the nation, have arrived in Lehigh Valley. The idea is that you get locked in a themed room with a group of friends (or strangers). You have a time limit to escape, so you must think outside of the box, decipher clues, and solve the puzzle to get yourself out.

Captured LV is the first to hit Lehigh Valley and is situated in the lower level of the Main Street Commons in historic Bethlehem. There are two different escape rooms at Captured LV—the Alchemy Lab and Pirate’s Chamber.

Noel Coward’s Blithe Spirit, a high-spirited comedy at the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival, will be wowing crowds through August 7.

The show begins with a married couple, Charles and Ruth who were both previously widowed, getting ready for a dinner party. They’ve invited a special guest, Madame Arcati, to their home in hopes of gathering material for Charles’s latest novel. She is an odd woman who is known to be a medium who connects humans with spirits from the afterlife. Unfortunately for Charles, his life is about to change when the ghost of his first wife, Elvira, comes back to haunt him when Madame Arcati’s séance succeeds.

Pack a picnic lunch & explore Lehigh Valley.

Pack a picnic lunch, a comfortable blanket, some sunglasses and take advantage of the many parks and cozy spots as the setting for your next picnic. The following locations call for some walking shoes as you won’t want to miss out on the nearby trails and attractions.

Allentown Rose Gardens

Allentown has over 25 parks, trails, and green spaces in their inventory. One of my favorites would have to be the Allentown Rose Gardens, especially when the flowers are in peak bloom in June. Pick a bench, sit in one of the gazebos or set up a blanket on the grass. Every spot has an incredible view whether it is of the weeping willow trees or overlooking a pond filled with wandering water lillies.  My puppy, Toby, is a big fan of the roses and taking long walks around the park.

Celebrate Father's Day in Lehigh Valley.

Summertime in Lehigh Valley is in full effect and the next holiday is right around the corner. Sunday, June 19 marks Father’s Day this year and the weekend is filled with events, meals, activities, and more to celebrate dad.

Last year I scored tickets to the IronPigs game on Father’s Day which was a perfect day out in the sun. This year, the IronPigs play the Buffalo Bisons all weekend long and you are guaranteed to have some fun.  On Sunday, there is a BBQ set for the first 2,000 men (18+) that enter the stadium to enjoy before/during the game.

Kids will love The Little Mermaid.

I’ve heard the rumors that opening day is the day to attend a show at Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival. This was definitely the case for the opening day of The Little Mermaid.

My experience started as soon as I walked through the doors of the theatre — everything was transformed into an underwater oasis with jellyfish floating from the ceiling. The theatre was small which made for an intimate performance.

Treat mom to a relaxing day.

One day isn’t enough when it comes to celebrating the love for our mothers. That’s why it’s important to take advantage of Mother’s Day and spoil them a little extra. There are tons of ways to show your appreciation, and this year I have a few ideas up my sleeve. Check out some of our favorite ways to treat mom in Lehigh Valley.

Most moms could use a day of relaxation and we know it can be hard to find the time to get pampered. This is the perfect opportunity to treat them to a massage from Balanced Body Therapeutic Massage, The Spa at Bear Creek, or Stone House Inn & Spa. Or treat her to a mani/pedi at Style Beauty Lounge & Boutique where she can browse their collection of clothing and jewelry before and after the appointment.
