Alan Jackson

Where I Come From, there’s no corn bread & chicken, but, on a perfect Friday night Alan Jackson’s concert at Sands Steel Stage, had me “Gone Country.”

The song list was hard & soft, old and new, with a big screen behind the band showing the original song video recording which I thought was very special. Surrounded by an incredibly talented band, the crowd cheered extra loud, when he acknowledged his fiddle player, from Pittsburgh.

To mulch or to munch?

That was the question this weekend. To spend the whole weekend spreading seven yards of mulch at home or spend time enjoying delicious food, beer, wine, and listen to great music?

Lehigh Valley Halloween

So did anyone in Lehigh Valley get out and take advantage of some spooky fun last weekend? There was plenty of Halloween fun for both kids and adults to do.

We decided to do a little Halloween club hopping and of course we also needed to find some dinner. Our intention was to hit at least 4 places in our area for some Halloween fun.

Galen Glen on the Lehigh Valley Wine Trail

It was Chambourcin weekend on the Lehigh Valley Wine Trail this past weekend and what a glorious weekend it was!  We had absolutely no permanent plans other than some minor projects around the house this past weekend, so when I mentioned to my husband it was Chambourcin weekend he was excited! Of course he was out of his favorite Chambourcin wine from Galen Glen Winery.

We seem to be busy every year on this weekend so this was a special treat for us, and on top of it all, it was a beautiful sunny fall day. With our neighbor friends in tow we hopped in the car and took off for Galen Glen winery in Andreas, PA. The leaves were a little past their prime, more orange colors than red in the trees but still a beautiful show of fall leaves. I would have to say Galen Glen is one of our favorite wineries with a wonderful panoramic gorgeous view!

7 Walkers

Psychedelic backdrop, harmonic guitar rifts, taking me to a far place with fluffy clouds, blue skies, running through fields of wildflowers with pulsing red and green lights….

Ok I am back!

Telesma at SteelStacks

Well the bands name is Telesma, and what an amazing band it is! You must check out the free concerts series in Lehigh Valley from May through September at The Levitt Pavilion SteelStacks as soon as possible. This is an outdoor venue, but because of the heat wave we were experiencing last week the performance was moved inside to Musikfest Café.

We did some checking online to find out about the band, and at first we were a little hesitant. Their music was described as “psychedelic tribal rock”. We love music, so we figured why not see what this band has to offer. From the moment Telesma took the stage, we were captivated. The lead singer’s hauntingly beautiful voice, the unusual instruments, and, oh I forgot, the belly dancers all made for a riveting show. The music was psychedelic and tribal for sure with a rock edge … rhythmic, Pink Floyd’esque, with an Aboriginal flair. The music was compelling, to say the least.

SteelStacks Interior 1 - June 2011

“Early in the morning ain’t got nothing but the Blues” and in the evening the Blues were just as good. This was my first time to the Musikfest Café and I can say I am hooked.
The venue is sweet, with a very intimate setting, and when evening set in and the SteelStacks went into full color-changing mode I was mesmerized.

Da Vinci Science Center

Check List for the Saturday before Easter in Lehigh Valley: shop for groceries for Easter dinner, color eggs for hiding, bake desserts, get clothing ready for the big day, and since my niece spends the holiday at our house- find a fun afternoon activity! As luck will have it our husbands were available for our excursion to the Da Vinci Science Center. Upon entering Beth immediately ran for the baby chicks hatching in the incubator … of course she wanted to take one home!

If you have not been to the Science center it is a fun, hectic ton of things to see, touch and do. Beth just ran from one activity to another with Ron and Jake right with her. I had to pry the men away from the puzzle area, Ron and Jake trying to beat each other to complete the puzzles! Of course they also loved the spiders, snakes, bugs and blue frogs.

Glasbern

Within each of you is a power, a Cosmic Force, everything bears a relationship to every other thing and to the Infinite Spirit. We are all part of the one great Universal Whole.

Wow, I sound like Shirley Maclaine! Ok, let me begin … last year we attended the SnowBlast Winter Festival in Emmaus, we had a great time and we purchased a couple of raffle tickets. My husband picked the numbers based on his favorite football team, and the last numbers were jersey numbers of two of his favorite players.

I am a crazy holiday tradition person. We always go to Turkey Bowling at Parkway Lanes in Allentown on Thanksgiving night, a tradition of our daughter-in-laws family and a great way to burn off all those calories!

Also, my niece, her husband and my great niece Beth, always stay at my house for Thanksgiving, hence we have a new holiday tradition of attending some event in or close to Lehigh Valley to get us in the Christmas spirit.
