Explore the Lehigh Valley Wine Trail.

So you know that the Lehigh Valley has wineries and you’ve been to a couple of them, but did you know it has a wine trail made up of nine wineries? Each year the wineries team up for six annual wine trail events, the first of which is coming up in March. And if you’ve only visited one or two of the area’s wineries, then this event is a great way to get introduced to all nine of them.

Explore the Southside arts culture on First Friday.

Post contributed by Erika Liodice.

On the first Friday night of every month, the shops, restaurants, and art galleries of South Bethlehem open their doors and welcome passersby to step inside and discover something new. They do this in celebration of First Friday, a community tradition I’ve known about for years but have never managed to attend. So when a friend suggested we check it out, I decided that last Friday would be my first First Friday.

X Ambassadors perform at the Sands Steel Stage during Musikfest 2016.

Excitement and anticipation lit up the air on the opening night of Musikfest. Opening the show were piano rockers Jukebox the Ghost, who played a free concert at the Levitt Pavilion at Steelstacks earlier in the summer months. Rachel Platten performed a heartfelt performance talking about the struggles of show business in her own life. The crowd was invigorated by her popular songs  “Fight Song” and “Stand by You.”

Nighttime fell and X Ambassadors took the stage with an incendiary presence. The soul funk band hailing from Ithaca, NY provided the perfect set to kick off ten days of Musikfest fun. Multi-talented lead singer Sam Harris kept the audience engaged from start to finish. The most commanding moment may have been before the hit song “Renegades.” Harris provoked the audience to think about unity and making a positive change in the world.

Take a ride down the Lehigh River.

Having lived in Lehigh Valley my entire life, sometimes I feel like there’s nothing left to discover. So when my husband and I signed up for the Wildlands Conservancy’s canoe trip to Island Park on the Lehigh River, I was expecting a nice paddle with river views I’ve seen a million times before.

I’m not ashamed to admit I’m a lightweight when it comes to Shakespeare, preferring his comedies over his more dramatic works. That’s why I chose to see The Taming of the Shrew as part of the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival (PSF) 2016 season at DeSales University.

In the morning the fog blankets the crumbling concrete. In the afternoon, the sun gleams off of the gemstones. The light breeze ruffles the aluminum cans creating a soft whisper. This concrete playground of recycled materials is right in the Christmas City. This is the Lehigh Millennium Folk Arch and Art Enclave (“Enclave”).

Spring Wine & Cheese Pairing. Yum!

Last Sunday, my husband and I met up with some friends at Galen Glen Winery, in Andreas, for the Lehigh Valley Wine Trail’s Spring Wine & Cheese Pairing. All nine member wineries participated in the weekend-long event, but we chose Galen Glen based on a recommendation that promised great wine and beautiful views.

This was our first visit to Galen Glen, and we quickly discovered that the “beautiful views” begin long before you arrive.

Discover Lehigh Valley recently celebrated its 31st Annual Meeting with the help of our keynote speaker Meridith Elliott Powell, and more than 140 of our partners. We thank Meridith for a very informative and captivating keynote presentation and here is a recap of the event through her eyes. Enjoy!

One of the best parts of being a business motivational speaker is meeting new people, hearing their stories, and learning their strategies for how to succeed in business today. While I work with clients from all over the country, and hear some amazing stories, I will have to say that last week was one of my favorites. First, I was lucky enough to be in one of the most beautiful places in the country, Lehigh Valley, PA, and second my client and their partners have done an amazing job of working together to make positive change happen.
