Smokey Robinson

My mom lives in Lehigh Valley, yet she had never been to the Sands Event Center, casino or the outlets at the complex. I figured we’d start by getting a few last minute gifts at the Outlets at Sands Bethlehem, head into the Sands Bethlehem casino for some dinner, and then make our way to our seats in the concert venue.

Dunderbak's Cafe

For those of us locals who have ever been to the Lehigh Valley Mall, we are oh so familiar with the smells that permeate the air close to Macy’s interior entrance. The smells wafting through the air are those of Dunderbak’s. It’s as if you were walking the streets of some quaint town in Germany with the music playing and the scents of their favorite traditions.

Foodie Friday: Copperhead Grille

Welcome to my new blog post feature titled “Foodie Friday Q & A.” I’ll be featuring restaurants each month with a question and answer style format. I’ll also try to incorporate recipes, photos, and more. I know. I know. Today’s not Friday, but since it’s the day before a holiday and most of us are off for the rest of the week, let’s just play along as my first featured restaurant, Copperhead Grille, is offering some great specials and an awesome Thanksgiving meal recipe.

It was Saturday afternoon and Dave and I sat watching TV wondering what we should do with ourselves. We were too lazy to go for a walk or ride bikes. We really didn’t want to go shopping either. Then it struck us. We remembered going to the Food & Wine Festival at Sands Bethlehem, and we absolutely fell in love with one of the bubbly “wines” we had from Pinnacle Ridge Winery, a local Lehigh Valley winery.

So, we decided to seize the day and go for a tasting or two, three, four, five or six! It was about 4:30 p.m. and we thought it might be slow since they were only open until 6 p.m. Well, we were wrong. The winery was jamming and we had to fight for a spot at the tasting bars they had.

Revitalized Southside Bethlehem

Last night was my second night of Musikfest greatness for 2013. I took my mom with me to hear the sounds of The Family Stone and KC & The Sunshine Band. My mom just happens to be a Musikfest virgin AND she has never been to the revitalized SouthSide of Bethlehem. It surprised me that she hadn’t been back since her father worked at Bethlehem Steel for 40 years!

So, I was super excited for her to check out at least some of the campus.
