Bush headlines day 7 of Musikfest.

Electricity! The show that could’ve been.

When a concert review starts with a weather update… well, not good! Inclement weather had been threatening the Musikfest all day long yesterday. This threat was real. However, after warm up band Chevelle took the Sands Steel Stage last night, everyone in attendance felt all would be alright on this night. Chevelle was terrific… and the lightening? Nah… we’re good! The lightening lightshow steadily flashing and creeping in would only enhance the atmosphere.

Alice in Chains closes out Musikfest 2015

Alice In Chains gave what could only be called a “punch in the gut and face” performance last night on the Sands Steel Stage at Musikfest 2015. The sonic pummeling the audience took from the band over the span of an hour and forty five minutes was really a sight to be seen and heard.

Musikfest's first non-musical headliner was a hit!

Buying a coffee will never be the same again. Using public restrooms has suddenly taken on a humbling sense of dread and paranoia. Lying down and taking a nap is not only enjoyable, but also necessary. Awakening to the fact that your life sucks and that it is actually way too long was only slightly tempered by the realization that everyone else’s life sucks too.

Where did these revelations take place and hit me square in the face? By not judging a book by its cover, did I purchase the wrong book? Did a friend sign us up for a self-help motivational be all you can be seminar you might ask?

Avenged Sevenfold Closes Musikfest 2013

Musikfest 2013 closed in spectacular incendiary fashion Sunday night… and that was before the festival-ending fireworks even started!

Avenged Sevenfold staged a sonic and visual performance on the Sands Steel Stage to a crowd more than willing and eager to “Hail” and absorb the assault.  Touring in support of their upcoming new August 27th, 2013 release “Hail to the King”, A7X, as they’re also known, put on a Metal-Hardrock-Punk Pop performance that resonated with the crowd, and certainly with this writer.

Allentown Muni Golf Image

The weather finally broke for a day this past Saturday in Lehigh Valley and my golfing buddies everywhere were ringing each other up to play Allentown Municipal Golf Course.  Slash contacted me… I contacted Bird… Jackie reached out to Bob “O”… Before anyone knew it we had 16 guys ready to play on Saturday morning.  Friday night was like Christmas Eve… didn’t sleep all that much in anticipation of the following morning’s round.  Showing up early enough to get good and loose on the range, which took much more time than it did at the end of last season… a year older… hopefully a year wiser in many respects.

Stay & Play Golf Image

Each year around this time Discover Lehigh Valley heads out to the two North Coast Golf Shows in the Mid-Atlantic area to promote its Lehigh Valley Stay & Play Golf Packages. My personal experience at this year’s shows at the Garden State Exhibit Center in Somerset, NJ and at the Greater Oaks, PA Expo Center reinforced the fact that Lehigh Valley has a ton to offer when it comes to golf. While golfers of all ages attended both shows, it’s my recollection that the Greater Oaks, PA golf show really impressed as far as overall attendance and in the amount of Lehigh Valley information we handed out.

Happy 2011 Winter Lehigh Valley. Sitting indoors looking at the wintry mess outside that’s supposed to continue on through the day and night, I’m thankful I was able to take care of a little personal business last week. Today, I will reap the rewards of being a little spontaneous, after some initial researching and planning. You see, last week I purchased my second drum set.

After some internet research and some communications with other drummer friends, I ended up going back to a retailer that I’ve been comfortable with all along in my drumming journey … Guitar Center in Allentown. Just walking into the store to pick up more sticks is an an enjoyable experience for me. Whether you’re a guitar enthusiast, drummer or keyboard player, walking into Guitar Center makes you feel young again. There is always someone playing a new guitar model they’re eyeing up. Bass guitars or six-string acoustic or electric … they’re hanging all over the walls.
