The Circus in Lehigh Valley

I guess any mother of a 3 year old can say that, I didn’t really believe it until we tried to see the real circus!  Last week, I packed up the child, her cousin and my sister-in-law for some fun under the Big Top. Ringling Brothers “Barnum Bash” was in town at Stabler Arena, and I couldn’t wait!

The child on the other hand, had other ideas.

Happy Birthday, Megan!

What do Kenny Rogers, Usain Bolt, Kim Cattrall and Count Basie have in common with ‘ill old me?

That’s right we were all born on this day, August 21! Kenny Rogers is probably singing “The Gambler” somewhere and Usain Bolt is probably running somewhere but not me, I’m celebrating my birthday in my own special way around Lehigh Valley.

Sheryl Crow

I braved the weather on Friday night (an inside joke) at The Sands Steel Stage to see one of my favorites, Sheryl Crow in concert.  She came out guitars blazing her hit “Steve McQueen”. My husband said it looked like “All I want to do” is have a rockin’ good time.

The ArtsQuest “Members Only”  section seemed to be filled to capacity, one of the great benefits to becoming an ArtsQuest member is no waiting in line and access to great concert seats.

The husband and I headed out for a date night, a rare occasion since we have a 3-year-old at home. That darn baby had a sleepover at Nana’s so we had a night to paint the town.

We headed out to the Copperhead Grill in Center Valley for dinner before Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival’s production of Tennessee William’s Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.

BounceU Birthday Party

ME: “Rosie, what kind of birthday party would you like?”

ROSIE: “A Dora Bouncy Party!!!”

ME: “huh?”

I’m generally new to this birthday party thing, so I asked some other Moms at her school what Rosie meant?!? They told me the place to go in Lehigh Valley for a BOUNCY party was BOUNCE U!

Miller-Keystone Blood Center

Today, after getting that darn baby ready for school, getting myself ready for work, having a parent teacher conference, grabbing some breakfast and driving my morning commute, I also managed to save three lives.

Let me tell you, the saving three lives part was the easiest, most relaxing part of my day. The Miller-Keystone Bloodmobile comes right to our office parking lot at the Butz Corporate Plaza.

Pride & Prejudice

Oh that Mr. Darcy! The most “abhorrent, repulsive, vulgar, rude, man in all of Hertfordshire” invaded Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival last night, much to my delight.

Pride and Prejudice’s Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy have the greatest love story ever written. This production, which started it’s run last night, captured the essence of one of my favorite novels. The quick pace of the play was especially focused on the humor of Jane Austin’s writing, which was so refreshing.

Rosie santa sad face

All I’ve been hearing for the last two weeks from Rosie is, “SANTA! HO! HO! HO!”  She seemed like she really loved the jolly man with the presents, until it was time to take a picture with him. She looked at me like “NO ONE SAID ANYTHING ABOUT ME SITTING ON THIS GUYS LAP!” Then it was a full on freak out.  Talk about fun.

If you have a child who really loves Santa, there are many places around Lehigh Valley to go.  Christkindlmarkt in Bethlehem, Promenade Shops in Center Valley and Lehigh Valley Mall in Whitehall all have a Santa who will pose with your children and capture a precious moment.
