Pack a picnic lunch & explore Lehigh Valley.

Pack a picnic lunch, a comfortable blanket, some sunglasses and take advantage of the many parks and cozy spots as the setting for your next picnic. The following locations call for some walking shoes as you won’t want to miss out on the nearby trails and attractions.

Allentown Rose Gardens

Allentown has over 25 parks, trails, and green spaces in their inventory. One of my favorites would have to be the Allentown Rose Gardens, especially when the flowers are in peak bloom in June. Pick a bench, sit in one of the gazebos or set up a blanket on the grass. Every spot has an incredible view whether it is of the weeping willow trees or overlooking a pond filled with wandering water lillies.  My puppy, Toby, is a big fan of the roses and taking long walks around the park.

Celebrate Father's Day in Lehigh Valley.

Summertime in Lehigh Valley is in full effect and the next holiday is right around the corner. Sunday, June 19 marks Father’s Day this year and the weekend is filled with events, meals, activities, and more to celebrate dad.

Last year I scored tickets to the IronPigs game on Father’s Day which was a perfect day out in the sun. This year, the IronPigs play the Buffalo Bisons all weekend long and you are guaranteed to have some fun.  On Sunday, there is a BBQ set for the first 2,000 men (18+) that enter the stadium to enjoy before/during the game.

Find plenty of fair favorites.

The Schnecksville Fair is one of my favorite small town events. This year it will run from June 20 – 25, 2016. The fair is open Monday – Friday from 5 – 11 p.m.; Saturday 3 – 11 p.m. Admission is $9 for anyone over 32”; $5 Seniors (62+). Admission includes parking, all rides, all entertainment, and all exhibits and shows. That’s a hard deal to pass up for a fun night out with the family, or a date night with your special someone.

Here are some of my must see and dos at this year’s fair:

Browse a variety of food options.

If you’ve ever been to Reading Terminal Market in Philadelphia or Quincy Market in Boston, you know how tempting the sights and smells of the food vendors are. On your next trip to Lehigh Valley, a visit to the region’s newest stop for foodies is an absolute must!

Meet the Easton Public Market. Now, this isn’t to be confused with the historic Easton Farmers’ Market- that hasn’t gone anywhere (find them in Centre Square on Saturdays, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., May – December)! The Easton Public Market is located just down the street at an indoor location, which means you can enjoy tasty meals all year round. Here, you’ll find artisanal food stands, fresh produce and fish, a demonstration kitchen, and so much more.

Celebrate Mom in Lehigh Valley

Treat mom to a relaxing day.

One day isn’t enough when it comes to celebrating the love for our mothers. That’s why it’s important to take advantage of Mother’s Day and spoil them a little extra. There are tons of ways to show your appreciation, and this year I have a few ideas up my sleeve. Check out some of our favorite ways to treat mom in Lehigh Valley.

Most moms could use a day of relaxation and we know it can be hard to find the time to get pampered. This is the perfect opportunity to treat them to a massage from Balanced Body Therapeutic Massage, The Spa at Bear Creek, or Stone House Inn & Spa. Or treat her to a mani/pedi at Style Beauty Lounge & Boutique where she can browse their collection of clothing and jewelry before and after the appointment.
