Boston brings their 40th anniversary tour to Musikfest.

It was More Than A Feeling as the crowd scurried into the main entrance at the Sands Steel Stage on Tuesday night.  As we weaved in and out of the lines with a full mug in hand the smiles kept growing.

Inside the gate the lines were not long and there were plenty of food and beverage options. The bathrooms were very clean with attentive ushers giving out hand sanitizer wipes. The sections were labeled clearly and there were plenty of helping hands to assist you in finding your seat.

Dierks Bentley rocks Musikfest.

I’ve been to my fair share of concerts over the years. In fact, I always say that I will always go see any show just because I love live music so much. But, country is one thing that I just don’t get into. Thanks to the influence of a country-loving friend, I can now check ‘attend a country concert’ off my bucket list!

Dierks Bentley took to the Sands Steel Stage at Musikfest on Sunday, August 7 to a full house. Cowboy boots were in full abundance as the crowd prepared for a fun evening set amongst the stunning blast furnaces of Bethlehem Steel.

Experience two unique escape rooms at Captured LV.

Escape rooms, the newest trend sweeping the nation, have arrived in Lehigh Valley. The idea is that you get locked in a themed room with a group of friends (or strangers). You have a time limit to escape, so you must think outside of the box, decipher clues, and solve the puzzle to get yourself out.

Captured LV is the first to hit Lehigh Valley and is situated in the lower level of the Main Street Commons in historic Bethlehem. There are two different escape rooms at Captured LV—the Alchemy Lab and Pirate’s Chamber.

X Ambassadors perform at the Sands Steel Stage during Musikfest 2016.

Excitement and anticipation lit up the air on the opening night of Musikfest. Opening the show were piano rockers Jukebox the Ghost, who played a free concert at the Levitt Pavilion at Steelstacks earlier in the summer months. Rachel Platten performed a heartfelt performance talking about the struggles of show business in her own life. The crowd was invigorated by her popular songs  “Fight Song” and “Stand by You.”

Nighttime fell and X Ambassadors took the stage with an incendiary presence. The soul funk band hailing from Ithaca, NY provided the perfect set to kick off ten days of Musikfest fun. Multi-talented lead singer Sam Harris kept the audience engaged from start to finish. The most commanding moment may have been before the hit song “Renegades.” Harris provoked the audience to think about unity and making a positive change in the world.

Noel Coward’s Blithe Spirit, a high-spirited comedy at the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival, will be wowing crowds through August 7.

The show begins with a married couple, Charles and Ruth who were both previously widowed, getting ready for a dinner party. They’ve invited a special guest, Madame Arcati, to their home in hopes of gathering material for Charles’s latest novel. Pack a picnic lunch & explore Lehigh Valley.

Pack a picnic lunch, a comfortable blanket, some sunglasses and take advantage of the many parks and cozy spots as the setting for your next picnic. The following locations call for some walking shoes as you won’t want to miss out on the nearby trails and attractions.

Allentown Rose Gardens

Allentown has over 25 parks, trails, and green spaces in their inventory. One of my favorites would have to be the Allentown Rose Gardens, especially when the flowers are in peak bloom in June. Pick a bench, sit in one of the gazebos or set up a blanket on the grass. Every spot has an incredible view whether it is of the weeping willow trees or overlooking a pond filled with wandering water lillies.  My puppy, Toby, is a big fan of the roses and taking long walks around the park.

Take a ride down the Lehigh River.

Contributed by Erika Liodice.

Having lived in Lehigh Valley my entire life, sometimes I feel like there’s nothing left to discover. So when my husband and I signed up for the Wildlands Conservancy’s canoe trip to Island Park on the Lehigh River, I was expecting a nice paddle with river views I’ve seen a million times before.
