Kudos to Easton’s National Canal Museum on receiving the 2008 Roy L. Shafer Leading Edge Award for Visitor Experience at a Small Institution given by the Association of Science-Technology Centers.

The National Canal Museum was recognized for its innovative canal exhibit, which offers visitors a hands-on water-based lesson on how canals work. Easton Mayor Sal Panto described the award as the “Oscar or the Emmy of Tourism.”

Go-Kart Racing: A Female Perspective

Aside from Gone In 60 Seconds and The Fast and the Furious, the whole “need for speed” thing has never really appealed to me. So when a bunch of us from the office went to Lehigh Valley Grand Prix to race some go-karts, I was willing to try it (since I had never driven a go kart before), but I wasn’t jumping up and down in excitement.

After we got suited up for safety, we entered the “arena” and got into our assigned carts. Once I got used to my knees being scrunched up in what I considered to be an unnatural position, I took off like a bullet! Vrrrrroooommmmmmm!

Sushi anyone?

Saturday, Don and I were shopping at Elias Market in Allentown and ran into Jae Chung, the owner of Ichiban Japanese Steak House. I just happened to be wearing my “sushi socks” (as opposed to my “martini socks”) and the coincidence was just too great to ignore! Needless to say we headed over to Catasauqua Road to scarf down their Sushi and Sashimi Lunch Combo. Great deal for $13.95 since it includes miso soup and salad too. Jimmy always makes me take him there when he is home from school, which is fun “bonding with your son” time, but an unexpected great lunch out with my husband and hot sake can’t be beat. Did I mention Don paid?
