Let the Final Begin

Well, ‘Fest fans, it all comes down to this. From the original 32 participants, only #8 Sarah Ayers Band the SteelStacks Regional Champion and #3 Take a Taco the ‘Fest Mug Regional Champion remain to face off for the Championship.

The only difference in voting this round, will be that we will require an email to be supplied, so that you can be contacted in the event you are chosen as either a winner of a Musifest Mug or the Grand Prize Winner who will receive two tickets to any Sands Steel Stage show of their choice (except for Keith Urban because he’s super sold out.)

See "Of Heaven and Earth" this Summer

Great art does not only exist in New York, Paris, Rome, Barcelona and Glasgow. It also exists right here in Lehigh Valley at the Allentown Art Museum, which is currently displaying “Of Heaven and Earth: 500 Years of Italian Painting” from Glasgow Museums.

Great art also doesn’t have to be expensive, as the Allentown Art Museum is FREE all summer long. Let me say that again, FREE admission to the Allentown Art Museum all summer long!

View from Southside windows of ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks

A few of us from Discover Lehigh Valley recently went on a hardhat tour of the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks in Bethlehem. It was impressive, to say the very least. The massive 4-story performing arts center will be the anchor for the SteelStacks campus, bringing musical and cinematic performances to Lehigh Valley every day of the year.

The list of functions that this space will allow is incredible. Aside from the musical, cinematic and theatrical elements (many of which are FREE), the ArtsQuest Center will offer an Alehouse Cinema (yes, you can enjoy cocktails, beer or wine while watching a movie in stadium style seating), al fresco dining, areas for business/conference meetings and free space for local non profits and community groups to offer programming.

Liberty Bell Museum - Credit Ang Caggiano

Money is tight for all of us these days, so I wanted to share a list I recently put together of Lehigh Valley attractions and events that are either free or cost less than $5 per person.

Museums & Galleries: • Liberty Bell Shrine Museum (pictured) – no fee, but donations are appreciated – see a replica of the original bell, which was hidden from the British in the basement of this church. • Allentown Art Museum – Admission to the facility’s main galleries is free on Sundays; however, a $5 fee is charged for admission to the special exhibit area. • Banana Factory – Admission is free to watch a glass-blowing demonstration, tour the galleries and 23 artists’ studios, and visit the gift shop selling handmade art. • Lehigh Valley Wine Trail – Visit all nine of the family-owned and operated wineries in the region; some wineries may charge a nominal fee for tastings. • C.F Martin Guitar Company – Free one-hour factory tours are offered from 11 a.m. – 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday (a small fee is charged for groups of 10 or more). After the tour, check out the 1833 gift shop, Pickin’ Parlor and company museum.

Bike_ride

OK, anyone who knows my husband, Don, from his Allentown days can picture him riding his road bike all over town. He even biked to Indiana in five days!

Fast forward to him moving up to Moore Township, a bicyclist’s dream! Don had his tandem tuned up, and together we set out to explore the area I’ve lived in since 1994.
