Let the Lunacy Begin

It’s time for the Second Annual Lehigh Valley Lunacy Tournament. Last year’s Lunacy was full of lower seed domination, ten first round upsets really shook up the brackets. This year new places join the Lunacy to see who can defeat the top seeds.

As was the case last year, winners will be chosen by public vote.

Lehigh Valley Mascots

Every January, the team here at Discover Lehigh Valley looks forward to that one day when trucks roll into our parking lot and fill our storage room with the new year’s 2014 Lehigh Valley Official Visitor Guides. Okay, some of us “look forward,” those actually unloading and stacking the boxes probably dread it.

The weather didn’t make it any easier for the crew. A steady rain fell practically the entire time. Further complicating the yearly ritual was the absence of Dan, our delivery manager.

Governor Wolf Historical Society House Tour

Lehigh Valley hosts many historic house tours and if I could, I’d go to every one of them. I love going through old homes whether they are vacant and up for sale, or all dolled up for the holidays which was the case this past weekend as the Governor Wolf Historical Society held its Thirty-third Annual Christmas House Tour in Bath, Pa.

Our friend’s house was included this year so they asked us to be volunteers on Saturday. The historical society held a private candlelight tour the night before for all the homeowners and volunteers so we didn’t miss out on the fun. It was pouring rain Friday night so I was really glad they had a small school bus available to whisk us from house to house.

Gingerbread Sun Inn

By Colleen Ellwood-Surdoval I’m writing this blog entry as the lucky recipient of Discover Lehigh Valley’s Ultimate Paranormal Experience.  As part of this contest, I, along with my sister, Michelle, had the opportunity to join  a supernatural investigation of the Sun Inn in Bethlehem conducted by the good folks at Lights Out Paranormal on Halloween.

Prior to examining the scary haunts of The Sun Inn, we were given a tour of the historical significance of the building.  We learned that the Inn was originally located in the outskirts of town to host visiting guests of the Moravian community in the 18th century.

Special Edition Elvis Presley Guitar

There are only a few days left this month to enter our Ultimate Acoustic Experience giveaway, which will send home one lucky winner with their very own Martin Guitar. So,  I figured that now is as good a time as any to feature one of my favorite Lehigh Valley attractions, the C.F. Martin & Co.®  factory and museum.

I recently went on my umpteenth tour of Martin and it’s still as fresh as the first.

Classic Cars in Lehigh Valley

Although summer officially ended on September 22nd, we’ve been treated to a very mild fall. It’s been pretty much an extended summer. Now, as the temperatures return to normal and the leaves start to change colors, it is time to say goodbye to classic car season.

Yes, I said classic car season.
