Get ready for a winter filled with fun!

This is a page for Old Man Winter. Paging Old Man Winter.

If you’re like me, you love the change of seasons. This year it seems we’ve been stuck in fall mode in Lehigh Valley … until now that is! The temps have finally dropped to where there is a chance for the natural stuff to fall from the sky, even though that still hasn’t happened yet besides the few flurries I am staring at out my window at the present time. Luckily, for those of us that are winter enthusiasts, we’ve got two great resorts who have the capabilities to make a ton of the white stuff without the Snow God coming into play.

Nouveau Weekend Returns November 21 - 22

You don’t have to be fluent in French to know that Nouveau Weekend along the Lehigh Valley Wine Trail translates into being a very good thing for wine lovers. That’s because it’s the time of year when the wineries release new wines.

On Saturday, November 21 and Sunday November 22, the nine family-owned and operated wineries that make up the wine trail will welcome guests for wine and food pairings as they debut their newest wines after months of testing, tweaking and sampling.

Cheers to the inaugural Cider and Wine Festival!

The Lehigh Valley Cider and Wine Festival was a perfect Saturday afternoon. The Lehigh Valley IronPigs nailed the inaugural, sold-out event right on the field of Coca-Cola Park. The festival featured hard cider and wine tastings from the Lehigh Valley Wine Trail and local and regional cideries.

Cider is my favorite drink of choice and wine comes in at a close second so you could say I was living the dream (at least in my eyes). From the moment my friends and I made our entrance, we knew we were in for a treat.

Drinking at Lunch Doesn’t have to be a Thing of the Past: Some Lehigh Valley Suggestions

Who's up for a Martini at lunch?

In honor of my birthday, I think I’d like to bring back the work lunch cocktail … today! After a stressful few morning hours in the office, don’t you think just one little cocktail would make for a much better afternoon with your coworkers? After all, Mad Men did it on a regular basis, didn’t they?

Don’t get me wrong, I understand that alcohol is not the answer to relieve stress, and by all means, I am not an alcoholic. But, for some people it brings out the best thinking cap and it allows them to speak freely and feel relaxed.

Join the Lehigh Valley Wine Trail for Chambourcin Weekend

Every March a bunch of us get together to experience “Vino in the Valley”, one of the many events throughout the year organized by the Lehigh Valley Wine Trail. It is a lot of fun because by then we can’t wait to get out of the house after a long winter of cabin fever.

Well, coming up on October 17th & 18th, we can take the scenic drive around Lehigh Valley to the nine family owned wineries that make up the Lehigh Valley Wine Trail before we batten down the hatches for winter. It will also be a great time to check out the fall foliage as we celebrate Chambourcin Weekend.

The winery owners of the Lehigh Valley Wine Trail’s nine member wineries are often asked when is a good time to explore the trail. And while it’s true that any time of the year is great for visiting, special events make the trip along the trail even more fun because there’s more to see and do.

The Wine Trail’s next event is the annual Harvest Weekend – The Butcher, The Baker, & The Winemaker on Saturday, September 12 and Sunday, September 13. It takes place in the midst of harvest season, when the vineyards are busy with workers removing the mature grape clusters from the vines, which are then crushed to remove their juice.  The juice is then processed and placed into wood barrels or stainless steel tanks for fermenting.

Wine on the Mountain is here!

Keep Calm and Drink Wine! I’m sure we have all seen this saying before? Well what better place to drink wine than at Wine on the Mountain. This weekend, Penn’s Peak will be transformed into a wine lover’s paradise as the nine wineries that make up the Lehigh Valley Wine Trail and a variety of vendors welcome everyone.

We reached out to our frequent guest blogger and owner of Clover Hill Vineyards & Winery, Kari Skrip Gavenus, for a sneak peak at what one can expect. So without further ado, here’s Kari.

Blue Mountain isn’t just for skiing. You’ll find mountain bike trails, disc golf, a full-service restaurant, and much more during the summer months. The new Slopeside Pub & Grille features a full outdoor patio bar, now open year-round.

In addition to all of that, the highest peak in Pennsylvania also makes for a great location to hold events, as well.

Wine And Cheese on the Wine Trail

What is more perfect than a glass of wine? How about a glass of wine paired with perfect cheeses to go with it?

I find there are two ways to do wine and cheese pairings. First, you can look for similar flavors in both the wine and cheese for a safe pairing.
