For the first time in its more than 30 year history, ArtsQuest added an eleventh “preview” night to its typical ten-day event, Musikfest; known as the largest music festival in the nation. Each year attendance exceeds 900,000 people who are treated to more than 500 performances, most of them being free.

Those that attended Preview Night at Musikfest were not left “Hungry Like The Wolf” by any stretch of the imagination as Duran Duran lit up the Sands Steel Stage.

The Abel Opera House, Sigal Bridal Gallery, and the Sigal Museum all have one very big thing in common: their location. The Abel Opera House and Sigal Bridal Gallery evolved to what is now the historic downtown Easton’s Sigal Museum. I say “evolved” as the museum still pays homage to these previous tenants in many ways through their exhibits. Opening in the summer of 2010, the Sigal Museum is a gem in the historic downtown, flying a bright red banner reading “History Here” on its exterior. The museum is a mere block from the Easton Farmers’ Market, and a must-see if you are in the area! There is something in this museum for everyone – adults and children alike.

The sign says it all.

Tour Martin Guitar

By Sarah Mason, Discover Lehigh Valley Intern

There’s something pretty crazy about witnessing a man holding and playing a guitar that cost about as much as your college tuition. Though, this specific guitar is from C.F. Martin & Co and it has a lot of beautiful pearl in it and sounds amazing. It’s beauty almost makes you think that it’s not crazy that it costs about as much as your college tuition.

Second Round

The First Round is complete, the votes have been tallied and it is time to both announce and start the 2014 Lehigh Valley Lunacy Second Round.

Being a high seed is better this year than last. All #1, #2 and #3 seeds made it out of the First Round. In fact, compared to last year’s 12 First Round upsets, this year’s 8 is mild.

Let the Lunacy Begin

It’s time for the Second Annual Lehigh Valley Lunacy Tournament. Last year’s Lunacy was full of lower seed domination, ten first round upsets really shook up the brackets. This year new places join the Lunacy to see who can defeat the top seeds.

As was the case last year, winners will be chosen by public vote.

Special Edition Elvis Presley Guitar

There are only a few days left this month to enter our Ultimate Acoustic Experience giveaway, which will send home one lucky winner with their very own Martin Guitar. So,  I figured that now is as good a time as any to feature one of my favorite Lehigh Valley attractions, the C.F. Martin & Co.®  factory and museum.

I recently went on my umpteenth tour of Martin and it’s still as fresh as the first.
