Find plenty of fair favorites.

The Schnecksville Fair is one of my favorite small town events. This year it will run from June 20 – 25, 2016. The fair is open Monday – Friday from 5 – 11 p.m.; Saturday 3 – 11 p.m. Admission is $9 for anyone over 32”; $5 Seniors (62+). Admission includes parking, all rides, all entertainment, and all exhibits and shows. That’s a hard deal to pass up for a fun night out with the family, or a date night with your special someone.

Here are some of my must see and dos at this year’s fair:

The winery owners of the Lehigh Valley Wine Trail’s nine member wineries are often asked when is a good time to explore the trail. And while it’s true that any time of the year is great for visiting, special events make the trip along the trail even more fun because there’s more to see and do.

The Wine Trail’s next event is the annual Harvest Weekend – The Butcher, The Baker, & The Winemaker on Saturday, September 12 and Sunday, September 13. It takes place in the midst of harvest season, when the vineyards are busy with workers removing the mature grape clusters from the vines, which are then crushed to remove their juice.  The juice is then processed and placed into wood barrels or stainless steel tanks for fermenting.

Darius Rucker performed to a sold out crowd at Musikfest.

Darius Rucker’s performance at Musikfest was an incredible show for truly everyone, from country lovers to the ‘haters.’ I’ve never been the biggest country fan, but Darius Rucker changed that for me – something I never thought I’d say. Admittedly, I only knew his hit “Wagon Wheel,” but after the concert I raced home to download more of his music.

Alice in Chains closes out Musikfest 2015

Alice In Chains gave what could only be called a “punch in the gut and face” performance last night on the Sands Steel Stage at Musikfest 2015. The sonic pummeling the audience took from the band over the span of an hour and forty five minutes was really a sight to be seen and heard.

Snoop Dogg performed on night 9 of Musikfest.

Snoop Dogg’s second visit to the Lehigh Valley was one for the books. Snoop took the stage for the ninth night of Musikfest and did not disappoint the crowd full of fans.

Since his first platinum selling record in 1993, he has become an international superstar selling more than 35 million albums around the globe, not to mention starring in several television shows and motion pictures. He has a certain reputation, and let’s just say that his reputation held true.

Ready, Set, Rock

There’s a reason I had a second cup of coffee today. I’m exhausted after two nights in a row enjoying the performances of five different bands on the Sands Steel Stage at Musikfest.

Lehigh Valley has no shortage of year round music venues but August is our time to show the world just how to throw a party! Thanks, ArtsQuest!

Reba covers the hits and more in her main stage performance.

Even the weather smiled on Tuesday night’s headline Musikfest concert. You didn’t have to be a devoted country music fan to thoroughly enjoy Reba’s performance at the Sands Steel Stage. Reba sang beautifully from her wide portfolio of songs spanning several decades, including country and rock-and-roll selections composed by her and others. Her strong, melodic voice has done nothing but improve over the years. She had abundant and infectious positive energy; she really seemed to be having fun on stage.

Reba’s songs tell stories of love and heartbreak, of celebration and life. Selections included, “Whoever’s in New England,” “Going Out Like That,” “Because of You,” (composed by now-daughter-in-law Kelly Clarkson),” “Is There Life Out There,” “The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia” (1973 #1 hit composed by Vicki Lawrence), and “I’m a Survivor.” Her conversations with the audience were genuine and endearing; she came across as a sweet southern friend who just happened to have a spectacular voice.

"Dancing on the Valentine"

For the first time in its more than 30 year history, ArtsQuest added an eleventh “preview” night to its typical ten-day event, Musikfest; known as the largest music festival in the nation. Each year attendance exceeds 900,000 people who are treated to more than 500 performances, most of them being free.

Those that attended Preview Night at Musikfest were not left “Hungry Like The Wolf” by any stretch of the imagination as Duran Duran lit up the Sands Steel Stage.
