Alan Jackson

Where I Come From, there’s no corn bread & chicken, but, on a perfect Friday night Alan Jackson’s concert at Sands Steel Stage, had me “Gone Country.”

The song list was hard & soft, old and new, with a big screen behind the band showing the original song video recording which I thought was very special. Surrounded by an incredibly talented band, the crowd cheered extra loud, when he acknowledged his fiddle player, from Pittsburgh.

The Avett Brothers at Musikfest

I could quite possibly have set the record for the level of excitement leading up to a Musikfest show. Since The Avett Brothers were announced as a festival headliner last November, I’ve been (not so) quietly counting down the days, singing along to songs, and creating a million possible set lists in my mind.

I’ve been lucky enough to catch performances from brothers Scott & Seth Avett a handful of times over the last few years, and they never disappoint.

The Moody Blues at Musikfest

Probably 30 some years ago a friend of mine invited me to see the Moody Blues in Philadelphia. They weren’t a favorite of mine but I said yes to the free ticket. The concert was outdoors and it was pouring rain. I started to regret my decision, until they hit the stage and I realized I knew all their songs.

When I heard they would be in Lehigh Valley playing on Musikfest’s Steel Stage I decided it would be fun to see them again. It was another outdoor venue, but this time the weather was perfect. A cool breeze swept in just as the sun set, the perfect atmosphere for the 40, 50 and 60-something audience.

Jason DeRulo headlines Musikfest

On the third night of Musikfest, a different sort of audience flocked to the Sands Steel Stage on Bethlehem’s South Side.

A primarily female audience turned out for pop music phenomenon, Jason DeRulo. There certainly was no shortage of squeals from the crowd as DeRulo sang and danced his way around the stage.

All-American Rejects at Musikfest

On Saturday evening, the All-American Rejects brought quite a show to the Sands Steel Stage at Musikfest.

On a cool, but comfortable, night openers The Lawsuits warmed up the crowd and just after 8:30 p.m., the main act took the stage.  The audience cheered and sang along to the band’s radio hits, as well as some deeper cuts that spanned their four albums.
