Loopers is one of many places to grab a martini

Here in Lehigh Valley, we have no shortage of places for James Bond to order a dry martini, “shaken, not stirred.” Whether you find yourself in Allentown, Bethlehem, or Easton, you’re never to far from a great martini. We put together a list of our favorites. What are yours? Let us know in the comments section below.

Looper’s Bar and Grill – With more than 75 different martinis on their “Fruity Menu” alone, Looper’s selection is extensive. They also offer more than 50 coffee martinis, more than 45 unique ‘Special-tinis,’ as well as dessert martinis, frozen martinis, cosmos and margaritas. If you’re looking for a festive drink to enjoy the fall weather, I highly recommend the pumpkin pie dessert martini.

Lehigh Valley Ale Trail

This past February brought us the first annual Lehigh Valley Beer Week.  With the help of local breweries, pubs, and restaurants, beer enthusiasts were able to have a taste of tons of different brews through various specials including happy hours, beer dinners, and flight nights.  We can’t wait for round two this February, but we’ve also got some great options for you in the meantime!

We’re all familiar with the Lehigh Valley Wine Trail for those who love a local tasty wine, but what about those of us who prefer beer?

Lehigh Valley Oktoberfests

This weekend brings around two of my favorite festivals, both of the same name: Oktoberfest. It’s a great way to get out and enjoy some of the fall weather while celebrating the best of German: beer, pretzels, and of course, strudel.

Roosevelt's 21 in Bethlehem

Fall brings around a few of my favorite thing: apples, sweaters, pumpkin everything, but most importantly- football.  But these seventeen Sundays, filled with cheering at the TV (or yelling, depending on how things are looking), can’t just be spent sitting on the couch at home alone.  We’ve got some great places in Lehigh Valley to sit down for a game or three.  I’ve compiled a list of some of my favorites; see if you agree!

If you’re looking for a game-watching location with prime television options, check out Roosevelt’s. Both the Allentown and Bethlehem locations have tons of TV’s so that you can keep track of all your fantasy players at once, and their food is fantastic too.  $5 nachos during NFL games? Save me a seat!

The Great Allentown Fair

Next week brings with it the 161st annual Great Allentown Fair, a festival that celebrates the achievements of Lehigh Valley’s agricultural community. Fair-goers of all ages will have the opportunity to learn about everything from livestock to gardening all while chowing down on fried Oreos, listening to Toby Keith, and demoliton derby cars crash into each other.

Here are the top 5 things that I’m looking forward to most at the Great Allentown Fair this year:

Ke$ha Glitters Musikfest

Saturday night’s Musikfest performance brought more glitter to Bethlehem than anyone had probably seen. Ke$ha, supported by Semi Precious Weapons, took on the Sands Steel Stage, and it was definitely a performance to remember.

From the second you made your way down to the venue, you could tell that this was not going to be your average show.

Avenged Sevenfold Closes Musikfest 2013

Musikfest 2013 closed in spectacular incendiary fashion Sunday night… and that was before the festival-ending fireworks even started!

Avenged Sevenfold staged a sonic and visual performance on the Sands Steel Stage to a crowd more than willing and eager to “Hail” and absorb the assault.  Touring in support of their upcoming new August 27th, 2013 release “Hail to the King”, A7X, as they’re also known, put on a Metal-Hardrock-Punk Pop performance that resonated with the crowd, and certainly with this writer.

Revitalized Southside Bethlehem

Last night was my second night of Musikfest greatness for 2013. I took my mom with me to hear the sounds of The Family Stone and KC & The Sunshine Band. My mom just happens to be a Musikfest virgin AND she has never been to the revitalized SouthSide of Bethlehem. It surprised me that she hadn’t been back since her father worked at Bethlehem Steel for 40 years!

So, I was super excited for her to check out at least some of the campus.
