BACON

How many ways can you eat a pig? You can find out at the 3rd annual Bacon Fest held November 8th & 9th in Downtown Easton, Centre Square. It’s the largest festival associated with Easton’s farmers market. In its 3rd year, the festival plans to have the biggest one yet, with an estimated attendance of over 50,000.

The festival originated from the highly successful VegFest held each year in Bethlehem. The idea was that if a Vegan festival can do so well, why can’t a “meat festival” or Bacon Festival do just as well for the non-vegan and meat lovers in this world. The idea became a huge success as PA Bacon fest is now also listed as one of the top 300 festivals in the world on fest300.com.

Porters' Pub in Easton

The instant I stepped foot into Porters’ Pub & Restaurant in Easton, I felt like I had traveled to Ireland. One thing though, I’ve never been to Ireland, nor had I been to this place. I’ve driven past it many times and wondered what it was like inside. Did they have good food? Is there live music? What was the bar and clientele like?

Well, once inside, it is exactly how I envisioned a quaint little Irish pub, from the atmosphere of the stone walls to the wooden floors and bar area. The clientele was mixed which was nice. And, let me tell you, the food was great … definitely not your typical pub fare.

Top 5 Lehigh Valley Cupcakes

Some say that the cupcake trend is on it’s way out, but I fully disagree. There’s nothing better than having your own little dessert at the end of the day (or in the middle).

In the last few years, specialty cupcakes have definitely become trendy, and we’re lucky to have a good set of options for when you’re craving something sweet. I’ve pulled together a list of my favorite local bakeries.

Mesa Modern Mexican

I recently moved into a condo in Allentown.  Knowing that I was in need of both living room and bedroom furniture, I kept my eye out for special sales and savings. Over the Fourth of July weekend, I heard about a huge sale going on at Monarch Furniture in downtown Easton near Centre Square.

Being a huge supporter of local businesses, I was excited to stop in and explore their showroom.  I have to say, I could not have been more pleased with the quality of service and products on display, not to mention the 50 percent off sale on everything.

The Hamilton Kitchen & Bar

The revitalization of Allentown isn’t completely about the entertainment of PPL Center. It’s also about food and The Hamilton Kitchen & Bar, which happens to be across from PPL Center, isn’t just about food, it’s about good food, and drink, too.

The last Friday in June was a preview night reception for tasting the food, experiencing the atmosphere and having a drink or two.
