Lehigh Valley had the ultimate visitor a couple of weeks ago: President Obama! One of his stops while he was in town was to Egypt Star Bakery. Well, that really got me thinking about all the delicious bakeries there are in this region. Don’t get me wrong, Egypt Star is awesome (their bread is killer!) and makes my Top 5 Lehigh Valley Bakeries, but there are so many others as well.

Here’s the rest of my Top 5 Favorite Lehigh Valley Bakeries in no particular order:

New-year-resolution-cartoon-1

It was about this time last year when I started coming up with my “Things do in Lehigh Valley” lists. These three lists (Top 5 Plays, Top 5 Restaurants, Top 5 Overall) were my New Year’s resolutions for 2009. Since the year is almost over, I’ve decided to take a look at how I did.

Lehigh Valley Theater: Top 5 Plays for 2009: I was three for five in this category (although one of the plays I planned to attend was actually canceled, so I was actually three for four). Here are my reviews of the performances I saw at three fantastic venues throughout Lehigh Valley:

Trexler park

Welcome back to my two-part guide to the Top 4 parks of Allentown. Did you miss part 1? Let’s get right into it, shall we?

Trexler Park: A few blocks from the campus of Muhlenberg College lies Trexler Park. At one time, this was the estate of General Trexler himself. Upon his death it was dedicated to him and little about the park has changed since that time.

West Park Allentown

Across Lehigh Valley, and especially in the city of Allentown, there are a few preserved spaces of nature that we call city parks. These are places where we can escape into the beauty of the outdoors. The following is a list of my four favorite parks in Allentown.

If you can believe the weatherman, it will actually feel like summer for the next 10 days here in Lehigh Valley, so it’s time for my Top 5 Favorite Summer Activities in Lehigh Valley.

1. Dutch Springs – Although it’s primarily known as a scuba diving facility (one of the largest fresh-water facilities in the country!), Dutch Springs has a fantastic Aqua Park. There’s so much to talk about regarding Dutch Springs, I’m going to write an entire blog post on it, so stay tuned.

Connexions Gallery 3

As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, I moved from Bethlehem to the Easton area last spring. As I’ve settled into my adopted home town, I’ve tried to get involved by attending local events and checking out attractions, shops and restaurants. And as a result, I’m starting to feel like a bit of an expert. So when I found out recently that PBS-39 WLVT was working on a documentary entitled “Communities: Easton,” I started thinking about all of the things I’d like to see included in it, primarily in the downtown.

Here are my top five favorites in the city by the two rivers:

This is the final post in my 2009 New Year’s resolution series, which revolves around experiencing more in Lehigh Valley. Previous installments include the Top 5 Plays for 2009 and the Top 5 Restaurants for 2009.

I’ve lived in this area for 28 years now (I just celebrated my birthday on Friday), and I’m amazed how many things there are to do in Lehigh Valley that I didn’t know about. So my final resolution for 2009 is to experience five new things to do in Lehigh Valley.

I can’t cook a decent meal if my life depended on it, so my boyfriend and I go out to eat at least once a week. So my second New Year’s resolution is to go to five Lehigh Valley restaurants that I’ve never been to before in 2009.

This is the first in a series of three posts in which I detail my 2009 New Year’s resolutions, all of which revolve around experiencing more in Lehigh Valley.

Thanks to Netflix, I watch a lot of movies. On the flip side, I rarely go see a play. So my first New Year’s resolution is to see five plays performed in the Valley in 2009.
