Celebrate Summer at Dorney Park

Those of us that live in the Northeast know that it has been a brutal winter and we would do anything to skip over spring and go right to summer. Sure, we’ve had signs that warmer weather is coming with one “warmish” day here or there, and then we’d be right back to cold temps. The poor flowers don’t know which end is up, and I’m sure all the parents out there are going stir crazy trying to find new indoor activities to keep their kids at bay.

You might remember that a while back, we named my Top Five Mac & Cheese dishes in Lehigh Valley. Apparently, you all love mac & cheese almost as much as I do (but not quite). The comments on both the blog and social media were loaded with recommendations of places that I had missed, all of which I took note of.

With so many new restaurants popping up around Lehigh Valley, we decided that it was time to do a reboot of the list, featuring restaurants that have amazing dishes, but either weren’t around or I hadn’t been to when the first edition of the list was published.

Mouth Watering Old Forge Style

Over the last couple of years leading into the Lenten season, I’ve written a few blogs on pizza (okay four to be exact, but who’s counting). These blogs have named my “Top 10,” some local legendary pizza places, and even a few obscure ones. Regardless of what my lists entailed, they always opened up a can of worms and some great social media debate.

Once even some great banter where a woman told me I was crazy as Domino’s had the best pizza in Lehigh Valley. Nothing against the Domino’s franchise, but come on, really?

A Hungry Nine-Year-Old

“Mom, Dad, I’m hungry.” This phrase is common place in our household, especially with a son that seems to always have his head in the refrigerator. If your house is like ours, we are often in need of a cooking break (more my wife than me) so the next question is, where should we go?” Our son, Noah, is as picky as they come when it comes to eating out.

So, I interviewed one hungry nine-year-old and here are his recommendations. I had to take some liberties and make some modifications, but all-in-all, this is his list. I hope it helps those in need with finding some new, and perhaps some old, eating establishments that are definitely kid-friendly.

Whatever you call it, it is Beautiful.

Exactly, one month and one day ago, on September 23rd, the autumnal equinox occurred, ushering in the first day of fall. And, there are only 58 days remaining in fall before the winter solstice ushers in winter on December 21st. Without discussing the Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Hanukkah or the last shopping weekend before Christmas, let’s look at a few Lehigh Valley seasonal musts!

Wait … is it autumn or fall? It doesn’t matter anymore, and the know-it-all would say, that it is harvest, because that’s what it was called before it was called autumn or fall. So for this post, let’s just agree to disagree, because I don’t consistently call it the same thing in my own speech!
